We are excited to shine the “Teacher Spotlight” on Ms. Elise Werner, a dedicated teacher at Sts. Philip and James School and Academy (SSPJ) in St. James, NY. Ms. Werner currently teaches Grade 6 Religion, and Grades 5 & 6 ELA and Social Studies at SSPJ.
Ms. Werner has been teaching at SSPJ for five years and is known for her passion for teaching and her commitment to her students. In addition to her teaching duties, Ms. Werner is also the NJHS Adviser, Student Council Coordinator, and Book Club moderator at SSPJ. Her contributions to the school community go beyond the classroom, as she is an active member of St. Anthony of Padua in East Northport.
Mrs. Werner is a great teacher with a love to teach!

Ms. Werner is a Catholic School alumnus, and attended Trinity Regional School in East Northport and St. John the Baptist High School in West Islip before earning her degree in Elementary and Special Education from Molloy College, where she also volunteered as a sacristan, altar server, lector, and EM. Ms. Werner’s dedication to serving others extends to her personal life as well, and she serves as a Campus Minister at Stony Brook University. In addition to her love for teaching and her faith, Ms. Werner is also a big Yankees fan and an avid reader!
