We are thrilled to put the spotlight on Mr. Timothy Tamney this week! He is an outstanding educator who has been teaching at St. Mary’s School in East Islip for 26 years. With a degree in Education from St. John’s University, Mr. Tamney brings passion and experience to the classroom where he teaches Social Studies for 7th and 8th graders and 8th grade Religion.
Having obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Education from St. John’s University, Mr. Tamney brings his wealth of knowledge and for teaching to every class he leads. Mr. Tamney is not just an amazing teacher, he’s also a proud parent. His daughter is (also) a graduate of St. Mary’s School!
One of the nicest people I’ve ever met! Congratulations Mr. Tamney!

Mr. Tamney has an array of responsibilities outside the classroom. As a CMSAA member and coordinator, he plays a crucial role in organizing athletic events for the school. Additionally, he is the co-chair of the National Junior Honor Society, helping to foster academic excellence in his students. Before teaching Social Studies and Religion, Mr. Tamney taught in the Resource Room and Physical Education, demonstrating his versatility and dedication to education.
In addition to his teaching and educational accomplishments, Timothy is an active member of his community, attending Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in West Islip, where he volunteers as a Lector and EMHS (Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion).
We are very lucky to have such a great teacher, coworker and role model at our school. Thank you for all you do!
