St. William the Abbot School in Seaford hosted its annual Literacy Night earlier this month! Nursery through 2nd Grade Students and Parents were treated to a sneak peek of the SWS Drama Production of, “Mary Poppins,” followed by various literacy activities and crafts!

Building Bridges through the Curriculum Lead Program
Due to the quick shift to remote learning at the start of the pandemic and the availability of online meeting technology, the Curriculum Lead program was introduced by the Morning Star Initiative to address the pillar of Academic Excellence. When schools reopened their doors in September 2020, the program shifted to supporting teachers as they transitioned back to teaching within the building under COVID restrictions. Today, the program continues to support teachers in their everyday professional practice.
Morning Star Initiative Update: i-Ready Data Points Toward Student Success Across Our Diocese
Since the 2020-2021 school year, the parish and regional elementary schools of the Diocese of Rockville Centre have utilized i-Ready to support student learning. i-Ready is a growth monitoring tool that encourages student autonomy and empowers teachers to support students across all levels of learning, whether students are excelling or struggling in any number of topics.
SWS Students Participate in a Walk Celebrating their Accomplishments! 📝🎉
Students were asked to create posters that highlighted accomplishments they wanted to share with the SWS community. Before a packed auditorium of parents and grandparents, and with Christmas music playing to add to the festivities, SWS students paraded across the stage to share triumphs such as learning to read, making the basketball team, earning good grades, and so many more!
Computer Science Education Week with our Catholic School Students! 🧑🏻💻
During the week of December 5, 2022, schools across the Diocese of Rockville Centre participated in Computer Science Education Week. This annual event calls for students from kindergarten to grade 12 to learn about computer science, including coding and other aspects of computer science, careers in the field, and important contributions individuals have made to computer science.
