This week’s “Teacher Spotlight” is shining on Mrs. Jones, a fun and dedicated Kindergarten teacher at Our Lady Queen of Apostles Catholic School in Center Moriches!
Mrs. Jones is a graduate of Holy Angels Regional School in Patchogue, and St. John the Baptist Diocesan High School in West Islip, so she knows firsthand the value of a Catholic education. She also attended St. Joseph’s College in Brooklyn, where she received her degree in General and Special Education, as well as her Master’s Degree in Literacy.
Mrs. Jones is a wonderful teacher. My daughter learned so much from her, and her teaching has set my daughter up for great academic success. Thank you Mrs. Jones.

She has been teaching for nine years and has spent eight of those years at OLQA, where she also serves on the school hiring committee. She previously taught at Bellport UPK. Mrs. Jones takes great pride in being a part of the educational journey of her students, and it’s clear to all the love that she has for her job and students.
As long as I can remember I have always wanted to be a teacher. A kindergarten teacher to be exact. I absolutely love being a teacher. One of the best parts of working with children is seeing the amount of growth that they make in such a short period of time.
— Mrs. Jones
Mrs. Jones is an active member of Mary Immaculate Roman Catholic Church in Bellport, and is incredibly passionate about teaching and instilling the Catholic faith into her students. She is also involved in local volunteer work, and helps to gather ingredients for the local soup kitchen. Her favorite subject to teach is Reading, and she especially loves the work of children’s authors Eric Carle and Dr. Seuss. Mrs. Jones’s favorite quote is “It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge” by Albert Einstein. Her favorite scripture is “With God all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26).

Not only is Mrs. Jones a fantastic teacher, but she is also a brand new mom! She and her husband welcomed their little boy into the world in August of 2022. When she’s not at school, Ms. Jones loves to be in nature and spending time with her dog, family, and friends. She’s also a big fan of crafting and skateboarding!
One of the greatest teachers. My kids love her so much.
